Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Legalize It! Teapot Parties are popping up all over the country. (Non-Dead)

Willie Nelson was busted near the Texas border last Friday, and called for the formation of a national "Teapot Party" to help elect pro-pot candidates into office. On Sunday the Willie Nelson's Teapot Party Facebook Page was launched and in less than a week it has garnered over 36,000 supporters and has spawned chapters in all 50 states and more overseas. I founded the Utah Teapot Party and we currently have over 200 supporters in less than 6 days, not bad for an ultra-conservative state, run by the LDS church with less than 3 million people.

Our Principles At The Utah Teapot Party Are Simple:
We believe that caging responsible citizens for their use of an herb is unacceptable policy.
We will help to elect people that share this view and strongly oppose those that don't.

We also believe that this issue transcends politics, religion, gender, age, ethnicity and sexual preferences.

Education is the key to countering more than a century of misinformation, myths, fear-mongering and outright lies about cannabis.

I would like to encourage all my friends here to visit the Willie Nelson's Teapot Party page:

I would also like to invite you all to visit and "like" our Utah Teapot Party page and share it with your friends. We face heavy opposition here and we appreciate any support we can get from our friends around the country.

Here's a great piece of animation that illustrates the difference between a state that legalizes an certain flower and one that oppresses those who use it.

To find your local Teapot Party group just search your state's name and "teapot party" on FaceBook. Please visit them and support them.

Let's all work together to stop this senseless prohibition.

Thanks,
Frank

Backing a candidate only because they support legalization and opposing those against it is not a very educated way to vote. i sincerely hope you take other factors into account before backing any candidate.

I am in favor of legalizing pot but not until someone develops a instant test for it similiar to a breathalizer. Yes alcohol is legal but there are serious consequences for those who decide to drink to much and operate a vehicle. There should and in my opinion need to be consequences for those who decide to drive after smoking.

I've joined both on facebook, The Teaparty & The Teapot Party. Imo, any decent Libertarian would be for legalization. And hey, other than stopping at green lights, I drive great stoned!

"I drive great stoned" Ahhhh the Mantra of the stoner! Whatever you think you do the fact of the matter is that driving stoned is driving impaired and just because you think you drive great stoned that doesn't mean that everyone else does. If we're going to legalize it....lets at least do it right!
